The 13-pin plug enables a standard electrical connection between a car or van and a trailer. The plug is part of the trailerās electrical system and connects to the socket on the vehicleās tow bar.
The 13-pin connection enables standard power supply to the lighting systems of light and heavy trailers, single- and twin-axle trailers, car transporters and caravans ā all powered by a 12-volt vehicle electrical system.
If the number of pins does not match between the towing vehicle and the trailer, a special adapter must be used to convert from 7 to 13 pins.
